We all thought we looked so cute with those gold charger plates on our ears, didn’t we?

Looking at me now, you would never believe that I completely threw myself in to the 80s trend that required every female to wear 10 pounds of gold on each earlobe. You know what I mean – I’m talking about the big dangly kind that stretched your earlobes to the extreme limits.

Somewhere along the line, I learned that simple and minimal is best. There comes a time when one must say Enough with the Foolishness – Stop torturing those poor ears!

I am still drawn to danglies, but I like them to look lighter and more feminine, as opposed to the industrial, hard jagged edged styles so common in the 80s.

Here are some examples of lovely feminine earrings. These would all look fabulous casual or dressed up.

I’ve always gone with the ‘less is more’ approach when it comes to earrings.

I am actually allergic to many earrings, and so therefore am VERY careful about what I wear. I have basically worn the same pair of studs for the last 7 years. They have my birthstone on them(peridot).

My overall favorite piece of jewelery(when i wear any) has to be hands down my birthstone necklace with Kenz’s birthstone on it.

Lately my ears have been really sensitive to earrings as well… But the ones you have pictured make me want to take my chances! So very cute. Great post! Happy frump fighting! :o)

  3. Very cute! I got a pair of diamond earrings for some anniversary and wouldn’t wear anything else for awhile and so I got my ears double pierced to be about to wear those and whatever else. I like the Premier jewelry from the demonstration show. I kind of went nuts getting their matching jewelry sets and now have wayyy too much.

    Happy FFF!

I love dangle earring. Especially the silver ones you posted.

I did the shoulder brushing hoops and the so-big-they-get-tangled-in-the-mass-of 80’s hair earrings too.

No I have a good number of earrings but I tend to gravitate toward my simple (smallish) hoops and a pair of diamond studs. At least I did back when I didn’t have a toddler who wanted to pull those shiny things out of my ears.

  6. Sarcastic Mom (aka Lotus) says:

I developed an allergy to metals in my ear-piercings in my mid-twenties, and from then on couldn’t wear my cute earrings anymore! And that really bites, b/c I have 5 holes in the darn ears.

Incidentally, I can wear real gold in them without the burning pain and scabbing… so yeah, that pretty much means no earrings for me! ;-P

I’d TOTALLY be rocking Fussy’s earrings otherwise!

Oops. Forgot to give my fav piece. It would have to be the piece I wear everyday. ;-) Wedding ring.

Great post! Those little blue flower earrings were so cute and unique. Love them.

I should be better about wearing earrings. I’ve gotten out of the habit.

My 80s earrings of choice were my big red enameled ones with the matching red beads, red belt, red purse and red shoes. Hideous! :)

  9. I am happy to report I officially have 4 pairs of cute dangly earrings (all made by fussy).

They aren’t heavy and make my ears hurt. HUGE plus!!!

  10. Oh darn, I guess I need to take out my hand made jewled earings now. Even though they go so well with my Purple Power suit with the shoulder pads. :)

I like the amber drops of Fussy’s.

those are great looking earrings! since i’m in the accessorizing mood for spring, maybe i’ll have to get some cute earrings too!

    great post!

  12. Michelle@Life with Three says:

I do love a good pair of earrings, but my 10 month old likes to pull on them. So, lately I’ve been switching between two new watches — one is silver the other has a little “bling.” I also have a silver choker necklace that I can put different pendants on, which I love.

  13. Christine says:

Those Amber Drops are gorgeous! Well, they all are!

And as the proud owner of a few Fussy originals, I can tell you that they are very well made!!!

  14. My new fave jewelry is from Fussy! I have 3 pairs of her beautiful earrings!

I actually try to keep my jewelry to a minimum, at least until the baby stops grabbing and pulling at everything!

  15. I love those first earrings. Too cute. My favorite earrings are a pair of frosted glass ones I got on vacation while in Vegas and the other are the green ones that Fussy sent me awhile back for a caption contest win. Pretty much anything I wear can go with either of those…
