Those marketers are so smart

How many trends from your childhood have you seen make a comeback now that you are a parent?

The Care Bears?

Strawberry Shortcake?

Marketers know that they can get us by appealing to our own childhood memories.

And now there’s a new one that’s back on the block: The Banana Splits. And they have a new website too.

Starting Sept 2, The Banana Splits will star in brand new comedy shorts and music videos on Cartoon Network. This Fab Four – Fleegle (a dog), Drooper (a lion), Bingo (a gorilla) and Snorky (an elephant) – is ready to introduce their unique style of humor and catchy music to a whole new generation of young fans.

What trends from your childhood would you like to see make a comeback?

I am so happy that Hello Kitty is mainstream. I loved Hello Kitty as a kid and now I can wear all the gear as an adult. Remember the Kroft Shows in the 70s? I would love to see Sigmund and the Sea Monsters or even the Bugaloos again.

I was so exctied to see Cabbage Patch Dolls. I still remember my first one, Cathy, that my parents gave me on my 7th b-day. Zoe now has two of the dolls for her own and I play with mine with her. Love it!!!

Personally, I miss Bugs Bunny & the Smurfs. I wish they would bring back Saturday morning cartoons!

I think it sort of has come back, but I adored Holly Hobbie. I’m seeing more and more retro Hobbie stuff online now, which is like a fun flashback!

Found you blog through the Adoptic widget.

You are so right about marketing to sway our hearts! I was a huge Care Bear lover!

    Punky Brewster.

It would be rad to see if she was still sleeping in that flower cart bed in her 30’s.
