The day I became a mother

Seven years ago today, I became a mother. Motherhood was something I always knew I wanted. I never questioned it. In fact, my best friend and I had our children’s names picked out long before we were driving.

Abigael made motherhood seem so easy and simple. She was a calm, easy-going baby and a bright well-behaved toddler. She gave me a false sense of security and lead me to believe that I was good at this mothering thing.

My daughter has taught me so much about myself. I have learned selflessness, whimsy and spontaneity. She has those qualities down much better than I do, but when I am around her, she draws those things out.

I adore her and I am so proud of her. She is smart, artistic, witty, kind, loving and beautiful inside and out.

She is my daughter. And she is my heart.
