Summer shoe trends

One of my favorite pairs of shoes, was a pair of leather sandals I purchased at Tyler’s Clothing. They were all strappy and clippity-cloppity and I would have slept in them if I didn’t have the need to run my feet over my cool sheets at night in order to fall asleep. I starting saving for them in the spring of 7th grade and had them before the 4th of July.

I love shoes. And summer shoes are fun; they are flirty and cute.

Maybe you feel the same way.

But I want you to promise me something, okay?

Lean in…

I vote YES for the peep toe, wedges, metallics and jeweled….

and NO for the Gladiator and Ankle straps…those would be HORRIBLY unflattering!

  2. http://joscelyne%20cutchens says

I love those t strap, wedges and patent… and I’d have to agree with vdg, Neither Gladiators nor ankle straps for me. :)

  3. http://dcrmom says

Oooh, I love me some wedges. And I like the peep toe wedges you posted, although I’m not a HUGE fan of the peep toe.

I know the gladiator is “in” right now, but I really think they are UG-LY.

  4. http://HRH says

Oh I just got the most beautiful pair of shoes EVER and it was against all odds (which makes it even better)–I had to run into Ann Taylor to return something with ALL THREE BOYS and there they were…denim wedges with white retro-like trim peep toes marked down from $78 to $19.99. OH! And they only had my size. I nearly died of excitement.

  5. http://Megan%20(FriedOkra) says

Yeah, I haven’t seen a single pair of gladiator sandals on anyone that didn’t make me think, “Hmmm.. CANKLES!” I liked them all but the pink and the turquoise heels with the ankle straps, and the Glad sandals.

  6. http://Edi says

I like one of the lower wedged shoes…don’t like the gladiators…or high wedges.

This is the deal though…if you are model thin and model beautiful and young it really doesn’t matter what you are wearing…people think you just know what’s stylish and the ugly isn’t seen that way (well to some folks – those of us reading “Fight the Frump” know better.)

But if I tried wearing the gladiators or some other “wacko fashion trend” – I’d look really, really bad.

Makes me laugh when I see “old granny clothes” modeled on young, beautiful, thin models” – if you buy those clothes that’s not how you are gonna look. And really, does model Jane actually go around wearing one of those “kimonos”/house dress?

I wish the clothes would be modeled on regular Jane women so we could get a better idea of how those things look on us. I know some online sites have a virtual model that you can adjust to your own sizes…

I want those patent pink heels. WANT.

  8. http://megs says

I am a fan of wedges. Not so crazy about the ankle strap shoes. I want to go shopping for a new pair of shoes before She Speaks, but we will see if time or the budget allows!!

  9. http://Michelle%20Smiles says

Sigh…I miss all of my cute summer shoes and miss shopping for new cute summer shoes. But pregnant feet just look like sausages stuffed into cute shoes so I’m down to 2 pairs that are comfy and I don’t hate and I can still get the water retaining feet into regularly.

I like the peep toes. I don’t like the gladiator. They look like a jail cell for your feet.

  11. http://Owlhaven says

    The wedges are really cute!!

Now that my retinas have healed! I think that I need to get me some peep toes!!! Haven’t purchased shoes for myself in quite some time now. Guess what is on my adgenda today. hehehe

  13. http://Michelle@Life%20with%20Three says

I don’t think I could ever pull off the Gladiator look — not to mention, I think my feet would kill me by the end of the day (not too much arch support there). But, those brown peep toe wedges? Those I’m going to have to track down.

  14. http://Vera says

I’m not feelin’ the ankle straps but I LOVE the peep toes!!

  15. http://Rhiannon says

Meh. I can’t stand the Gladiator shoes. And, I don’t think Gwyneth Paltrow has stopped wearing them since they came out. Also, I’m not wild about the ankle straps either.

  16. http://sarah says

I think I could go with the wedges for casual and the jeweled for dressy fun. The high stuff is not for me. I would definitely break an ankle.

See you in Charlotte for SheSpeaks next week. It is only a week away! Yikes.

    God Bless,

  17. http://mah-meeee says

oh, totally agree on the sandals… there are just some really really ugly ones out there…

love that jewelled one at the end… i’ve been looking for something like that for church or my kids’ school!

    have a great weekend!

I’m a huge fan of the wedge. Not afraid to say the gladiator thing never really did it for me…

Of course, they are much better than the runway shoes. :)

Is it bad that I like the two red pairs in the “bad” group?

    I’m a freak.
