So, we are moving today… {yawn}

I felt a mite twinge of nostalgia as we drove to get some dinner last night… "this is the last time we will drive past this road…", "I remember when we first drove into town and stopped there for gas…"

{UGH! I hate getting weepy over silly things like gas stations and shopping centers}

I’ve been too busy to think about it. Too excited to care.

Until last night.

This town has been good to us. It took us in when we were bruised and battered from our year of financial ruin (dun dun dundunnn), it’s the place where my daughter started school.

It’s been our home for 2.5 years.

{sniff}

Are you weeping with me?

Okay, that passed. Nostalgia mastalgia.

I’m over it.

As you read this, I am huffing and puffing up and down stairs, carrying boxes and furniture. Aren’t you jealous?

    Best of luck with the move.

    And as for the huffing and puffing and furniture carrying…at least you are getting some good exercise!

  2. Michelle Smiles says:

    I don’t know what burb you are moving from or to – but I hope the new one has even better memories in a few years! Good luck with the move. At least you had a good day (weather wise) for it.

  3. Oh, I understand all the nostalgia. It is always hard to leave a nest behind.

    Remember lift with your knees! :)

  4. Elizabeth says:

    I had all those same feelings when we left our favorite mountain city. I have been away for about 2 wks and I am missing it big time. It was where went through my infertility with my husband and friends, where I got pregnant and had my daughter…where we raised her for her first 1+…it will I think feel like our “real” home for a long time.

  5. I’m horribly nostalgic! Happy moving and enjoy your wonderful new place!

  6. Karla – I probably missed it, but where are you moving to?

  7. Hang in there! I moved two weeks ago so I understand.

    I think moving is the hardest work in the world. If I ever have to do it again, they are gonna have to move the whole house…I just can’t take the whole huffing and puffing thing.

  9. Jen - Balancing beauty and bedlam says:

    I doubt it will make you feel better, but my dining room/school room right now probably looks worse than your whole new just moved into house.
    Told you it wouldn’t make you feel better, but it helped me confess my distracted domestic dilemma. :)

    We just moved a bit over a month ago. Good luck and smooth transitions!

  11. Totally understand but after last experience buying and selling a house, will never do again unless I have more than 4 kids at once

  12. I’m weeping with you because I am experiencing the same thing! We are moving in a little over a week from Arizona to NC. This weekend (and the coming week) is all about saying goodbye, which is always difficult!

    Hang in there!

  13. Mommy Cracked says:

    ((hugs)) I know it must be so hard…while I don’t feel jealous of the actual moving process (packing and moving boxes), I’m keeping you and your family in my prayers.

  14. I hope your move went smoothly and that now you’re happily unpacking, getting ready for the next, happy time of your life.

  15. Kelly (The Barefoot Mama) says:

    Hey mama!

    Congratulations on your move. Praying that it went smoothly and that God has you settled into all of the new blessings sure to await you at the new abode. I’m new to Blissfully Domestic and your blog title instantly caught my eye. We are also moving this November and I’ve found so many fellow mothers are in the same situation. God has been amazing in providing for us, and I cannot sing about His glory enough.

    I’ll definitely be back for more reading here – take care, Karla, and have a wonderful evening!
