Not in My Cart!

**I am recycling this WFMW from last week because I got in really late with it and I don’t thinkg many people saw it. And this is so important to be aware of as we shop for Christmas*

“Bright toys coated with lead paint, savory fish with illegal chemicals, toothpaste with a poison used in antifreeze–the recent wave of recalls reminds us that ordinary things we use every day may not be safe. Consumers Union created to give you a place to check for recent product recalls and take action to make all products safer in the future. The U.S. market is now flooded with imported products–tens of millions of items arriving in cargo ships stacked high with containers. Recalls, after a dangerous product is found on store shelves, are important, but not enough.”

This is the mission of Consumers Unions Not in My Cart initiative. Consumers Union is part of Consumer Reports)

Before you head out shopping on Friday, check out their site and their recall list and be sure to read this article on their blog: 12 Toy Shopping Tips for a Safer Holiday.

Sign up to be a Safe Shopper and you’ll also receive a Safe Shopper coupon book.

If you don’t understand the cause for concern (stemming from lead paint) read this information.

  3. Thank you for the site, I did not know about being able to check. I have been afraid to buy anything for the babies this year, I know I can check there now. All these recalls scare me at times, out of love we may actually be harmin.

  4. Thanks for the great tip!

  5. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this link. I for one, am very worried about what goes into my child’s hands and mouth, so this site will be used heavily by me this year!
