A bright reminder

Two years ago today, we were in the midst of some crazy stuff. On the 24th of October, we had the financial breath knocked right out of us and our world was suddenly in utter chaos. We were brought to our knees and couldn’t imagine any sort of bright spot. Our bank account had, wrongfully and unknowingly, been garnished and every.dime.in.it.had.been.taken.out.of.it. (this was later cleared up – 3 months later; but that is another post for another time). On top of it, I was pregnant and due in three weeks.

Financially, everything about that year had been a disaster. And this was the closing act.

Our faith was rattled. Our future so unclear.

But late that same day, just before midnight, I went into labor. In a whirlwind, we were taken from deep despair to the brightness that is God’s beautiful miracle: a baby. In the early early morning of the 25th, Seamus made his appearance. He became our ray of hope in the midst of pain. And a reminder from the Lord that He restores all things.

Happy Second Birthday, Moose. Our reminder of God’s grace and love.

Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter,
you will restore my life again;
from the depths of the earth
you will again bring me up.

You will increase my honor
and comfort me once again.

Psalms 71:20-21

  6. truly beautiful post to your son… and such a great story of God’s faithfulness in our despair. He never promised us that he would spare us from the trauma and heartache but when we trust in Him, He is ever faithful to reveal himself to us and draw us near throughout it…

  13. A ray of sunshine in the midst of the storm! Happy Birthday Seamus!

  14. Sweet, sweet, sweet! How are the financial issues after two years?

  15. Barb @ A Chelsea Morning says:

    I can’t imagine that happening, Karla. I tell you, if something like that happened to us, we wouldn’t survive for 3 months! We’d be moving in with family somewhere. How completely awful.

    I can see where a brand new baby softened the blow. :-)
